A VERY unique opportunity to charter the JPK1180 ‘Sunrise’ for the Caribbean Season 2020. With fewer then 20 boats built a year by JPK and with a waiting list of over 18 months, JPK’s are in high demand! Often sought by experienced sailing teams knowing the potential they offer to hold the winning trophy in world class events!
The JPK 1180 has racing infused into its DNA, with great victories inshore and offshore. JPK1180’s taking 1st and 2nd in class at the 2019 Rolex Fast Net Race (“Courrier Recommandé” 1st and “Sunrise” 2nd) with “Yes!” also coming 1st in class at Cowes week and coming 1st and 2nd in the 2019 Rolex Middle Sea Race in their class, and 2nd and 4th in IRC overall, illustrating the fantastic versatility of the JPK 1180.
JPK stands for Jean Pierre Kelbert, the owner of the shipyard. In his time he was a champion windsurfer (European champion in 1988 and 1999), following this he designed windsurfer boards, before progressing into yachts as part of his friendship with Naval Architect Jacques Valer.
As Jacques Valer says creating a boat for each program is easy but it becomes extremely difficult to combine excellence in both disciplines, inshore and offshore. Powerful, light enough and a slender sail plan, the 1180 excels around the can and in the offshore and the classics.
