Entries for the world-famous Round the Island Race are now open. The race is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight, an island situated off the south coast of England. The race regularly attracts over 1,400 boats and around 15,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world. Competitors come from all over the UK, other parts of Europe and as far away as the USA.
Racing over 50 nautical miles around the Isle of Wight coastline, the fleet will include racing and cruising monohulls, multihulls, Gaffers, Classics and day boats taking on one of the world’s loved sailing challenges – a day full of fun, thrill, team-spirit and achievement.
Organised by the much-respected Island Sailing Club, the Round the Island Race (RTIR), this year’s event will take place on Saturday 30 May. With starts beginning shortly after sunrise, competitors are expected to enjoy a spectacular first leg down to the Needles, together with a welcome early finish back in Cowes.
Early Bird entries are available online until 1st February and competitors are encouraged to get their entries in early to take advantage of the discounts on offer.
