Kodachi is Corby 27 built in 2007 by Patterson Boatworks; her hull is strip planked Cedar, with a plywood deck. She has a light weight simple interior with small sink, heads and 4 berths.
The current owners bought Kodachi in 2015 and Corby Yachts in Cowes competed a refit of the boat making some sensible improvements to modernise the boat and improve her IRC rating. This work included;
- Engine moved forward
- Bowsprit added
- Keel fin enlarged and repaired
- Bulb planed to reduce weight
- Rudder fin faired
- Topsides and deck fixing, fairing and painting
- Deck gear and layout update using some existing and some new fittings
- Updated stainless steel fittings
In the last 5 years she has campaigned in the local races around Dublin, and further afield including the Scottish series and Cowes Week in 2017. As the crew learnt the boat they have invested in new sails and upgraded systems and deck gear to improve her rating and performance. Kodachi’s sweet spot is upwind in lighter wind conditions.
In the words of the owner “Kodachi has the nimbleness of a dinghy with the power of a yacht.” For her size she has a wide open cockpit and is ideally raced with 5/6 crew. The owners have enjoyed all their racing onboard Kodachi including the Wednesday club races as from arriving in the marina you can be out on the water, sails up and racing in minutes.
Kodachi is looking for a new owner who wants to race a top performing boat, in great condition that is fun stable and enjoyable to sail.
