Pata Negra is a prototype IRC 46 design by Marc Lombard and built by CSC Composites in 2016. Marc Lombard is renowned for designing some great offshore racing yachts, including IMOCA 60ʼs, Class 40ʼs and Mini Transats. Pata Negra is a great example of this offshore pedigree and has a proven track record of podium results offshore including overall winner of the Round Britain Ireland 2018, 1st in class in the RORC Caribbean 600 2020, 2nd in class in the Rolex Fastnet Race 2017 and 3rd overall in 2021 Fastnet Race.
The owner has consistently invested in the boat since purchasing her in 2020 leaving no expense spared in upgrades and maintenance.The main and genoa sheeting winches have been moved to improve the ergonomics of the boat, the back stay is on a purchase system and can be adjusted by hand and has a wireless load cell. The inner forestay has a hydraulic ram so can also easily be adjusted.
The keel has been off and the floor and keel matrix has been strengthened making the whole boat stiffer. The keel fairing has all been redone and Nautix A4 antifoul has been sprayed on. Notably, The rudder pitch is adjustable effectively reducing windward rudder drag. The electrics have been fully updated including a chartplotter at the purpose-designed offshore chart table, MFDs on both steering pedestals and on the mast and all electronics integrating with the expedition navigation software running on a Panasonic Toughbook. There is an Efoy fuel cell so you don’t need to run the engine to charge and a new Watermaker.
She has an extensive sail wardrobe of mainly Ulman sails – many of which were replaced in 2022 / 2023.
