Samui Regatta mixes serious racing with the easygoing hospitality of Koh Samui. Each year the regatta settles onto Chaweng Beach, with racing in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand and courses that can take the fleet north towards Koh Phangan. The fleet is small but competitive. Each day ends with prize-giving ashore, and the week closes with a gala dinner on the beach.
The regatta began in 2002 as a gathering of mostly beach catamarans and quickly became known for good racing and a warm welcome. Regattas Asia took over in 2012 and brought the event back to its roots by restoring the original name and moving the parties back onto the sand. It’s a relaxed way to combine a week of racing with time on one of Thailand’s best-known islands
