Elan 450 – Emily of Cowes
Elan 450, Emily of Cowes is a 45 foot Rob Humphreys design, launched in 2008. With a semi chined hull she looks like a 45ft ocean racer but with a comfortable interior.
Her wide transom and twin rudders give the Elan 450 huge stability and great control even in stronger winds. The wide transom makes for a very spacious cockpit allowing for easy movement during manoeuvres. She has a retractable bow sprit to fly her asymmetric spinnakers and flying jib.
The interior is open and uncluttered, with a huge amount of natural light.
Emily of Cowes is a fast and capable yacht that appeals to both racers and cruisers alike.

I really enjoyed the week on Emily of Cowes. Richard is a great skipper who gave very clear instructions to the crew and created an enjoyable atmosphere on the boat. The Cowes Week experience certainly lived up to expectations, both from a sailing perspective and the onshore activities.
Richard was superb, always reading the boat, keeping us all motivated and involved.
I really enjoyed sailing on Emily of Cowes. Both Sophie and I commented that Richard is an excellent skipper. I particularly liked how communicative he was, explaining what his thoughts were, what he was doing and why as well as asking for opinions. He was also good at making sure everyone was taking part.
