Volvo Ocean 65 – Sisi
The Volvo Ocean 65 is a one-design offshore race yacht built specifically for the Volvo Ocean Race in 2014. The class was created after the Volvo 70. A study was undertaken to develop a one-design class that would keep costs down and provide closer, more competitive racing for the public to follow. Farr Yachts' design produced a yacht just 2.7% slower than the Volvo 70, while significantly more robust and better protected for the crew. The VO65 also holds the Volvo Ocean Race 24-hour distance record, reflecting both her strength and speed.
Volvo Ocean 65 NO4, known as Sisi and also campaigned as the Austrian Ocean Racing Project, has competed under several campaigns: originally as Team Alvimedica, then as Vestas 11th Hour Racing, and more recently under her current owner in The Ocean Race Europe 2021 and The Ocean Race 2023. She also races annually in the RORC Transatlantic Race, RORC Caribbean 600, Rolex Fastnet Race, and Rolex Middle Sea Race.
The Volvo 65 carries a mast of over 30 metres and a full high-performance sail wardrobe, including mainsail, jib, staysail, cod sails and spinnaker.
Sisi has proven a strong platform for training, giving sailors the chance to learn and develop across all aspects of ocean racing, and is well suited to guest sailing activities and to training the next generation of ocean racers. She is professionally maintained and in excellent condition.

It was a great Palermo-Montecarlo race on the Volvo 65 'Sisi'. Konstantin and the Sisi team do it really well.
I was part of the operating crew on the VOR65 SISI for the 2025 Rolex Middle Sea Race. It was an amazing experience with a highly professional team and top-notch support from LV Yachting. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to race on a unique vessel with an exceptional crew.
Overall, I experienced the race, the organisation, and the crew as extremely professional, truly one of the most professional sailing experiences I have had so far. The guidance and support throughout the entire process were excellent.
First of all, I would like to especially thank Skipper Gerwin Janssen. He is a very composed, highly professional skipper with an impressive amount of experience. Whenever asked, he was always happy to explain everything in detail. I consider him one of the most professional and experienced skippers I have sailed with. He leads the team in a very calm and natural way, a true, natural leader. My sincere thanks to him.
The other crew members, including the Austrian sailing crew, were also very professional. They clearly knew what they were doing and had excellent knowledge of the boat. The boat handling was strong and confident, Syb, the bowman, was particularly very good at his role and performed at a high level. In short, the team itself was very strong: technically skilled, highly professional, and very competent from a sailing perspective.
I never felt unsafe at any point during the crossing which says a lot.
I am extremely happy with how everything was handled: the training days, the communication beforehand, the check-in and check-out process, passport handling, everything was very well organised and professional. There is nothing else to comment on.
I have nothing but praise overall and I would certainly book with you again in the future. Thank you very much for this fantastic experience.
I very much enjoyed the race. My only real feedback is that the packing list and instructions could have been a little bit more race specific. For instance there was no real need for a sleeping bag or heavy wet weather gear. Other than that the crew and boat were great!
It was a very fun race, was happy to be on board. The team was very clear and good at instruction and education of their boat. I highly recommend the boat for others who are interested. Was fast and fun.
Overall, a very good experience. The boat is fast and very pleasant to sail.
Oliver is obviously very competent, composed, and prudent. A big thank you to each of the crew for all their efforts and patience.
