RORC Transatlantic Race - In a MOD70

Cross the Atlantic aboard a high-performance offshore racing machine!

The RORC Transatlantic Race is an exhilarating event that pushes the boundaries of sailing and adventure. Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), this prestigious and challenging race attracts sailors from around the world. This year we are offering a unique and exciting opportunity to participate aboard a MOD70 – a high performance offshore racing multihull.

RORC Transatlantic Race

This race was born out of a desire to create a challenging and competitive transatlantic sailing event that would capture the spirit of offshore racing. Over the years, it has gained a reputation as a must-do race for sailors seeking a thrilling and demanding experience. One of the defining features of the RORC Transatlantic Race is its route. The race typically starts in Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands, and finishes in the stunning Caribbean destination of Grenada. The course spans approximately 2,865 nautical miles, taking sailors through a range of weather conditions and ocean challenges. The race is open to a variety of boat types, including monohulls, multihulls, and classic yachts. This diversity adds an extra layer of excitement as different classes compete against each other for top honours.

Sailing across the Atlantic Ocean is no small feat, and the RORC Transatlantic Race is renowned for its challenging conditions. Sailors must contend with everything from the subtropical high-pressure systems of the Canary Islands to the notorious trade winds of the Atlantic. These conditions demand a high level of skill, strategy, and seamanship.
