Rolex Sydney Hobart Race
Date
The Rolex Sydney to Hobart race is one of the world’s most prestigious ocean races and is a superb test of seamanship, skill, tactics, and endurance. The world famous 628 miles race sees around 130 yachts come together each year to do battle with the competition and with the elements.
Starting in Sydney on Boxing Day the 630nm course takes the fleet south towards the Southern Ocean, across the shallow waters of the Bass Strait and finally up the Derwent River, to the finish line in Hobart, Tasmania.
Huge seas and strong winds are often a feature of this infamous offshore race, arguably the most prestigious and toughest ocean yacht race in the world. Completing the race brings an immense sense of achievement!
The Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is an occasion as much as it is a race with the start being broadcast live on Australian television and 1000’s of spectator boats in Sydney Harbour. The race brings Sydney and Hobart to life as they celebrate one of the country’s great sporting events. On arrival in Tasmania you will be warmly greeted at Constitution Dock with a carnival atmosphere as Hobart hosts Tasmania’s biggest food and wine festival.
