What to expect

Avel Vaez is one of the best high-performance catamarans ever built, as well as one of the fastest catamarans in the world!

This leg of the Mediterranean Sea crossing, covering more than 450 nautical miles (NM), will depart from Palermo on the island of Sicilia to arrive in Lefkada in the Ionian Islands in Greece.

The target mileage on this cruise is around 65 NM per day including the long leg across the Adriatic Sea, around 170 NM in one of the most interesting crossings of the Med. This crossing is typically windy, and Avel Vaez will quickly put this one behind!

The best stopover possible in Vulcano and Taormina as well as the Messine passage will make this cruise unforgettable!

Itinerary

Palermo – Pecorini – 65 miles
Crew arrive & safety briefing. Set sail directly to Vulcano.

Pecorini – Messina – 59 miles
Sailing near Vulcano, time permitting, a visit is possible to see the volcano! Then head toward Messine straight.

Messina – Canne – 66 miles
This leg sails through the famous strait of Messine.

Canne – Crotone – 64 miles
This leg is a relaxing cruise along the southern coast of Italy and crossing of the large gulf on the northwest of the Ionian Sea, before the Adriatic crossing the next day.

Crotone – Lefkada – 167 miles
This is a serious offshore crossing. With good wind, Avel Vaez will reach her maximum speed.
