We spent the final days of 2024 sailing around the British Virgin Islands, hopping from one picture-perfect island to the next. Blue Magic—a true classic and the last Swan 65 ever built—was our home for the week. A legendary design in its own right, she receives admiring glances from every passing boat !
Our crew safely on board alongside the two enthusiastic owners – Nicolas and Maria it didn’t take long for the group to settle into the rhythm of life afloat. Mornings started with a swim or snorkel, then coffee in the cockpit as the sails went up and we made our way to the next anchorage.
Evenings brought sundowners, beach walks, and the kind of relaxed conversations that only seem to happen at sea.
One of the joys of a trip like this is getting involved. Blue Magic isn’t just for lounging—she’s a boat that sails beautifully, and we had plenty of chances to helm, trim sails, and learn a few tricks from the skipper. The trade winds delivered, and there’s something deeply satisfying about slicing through the Sir Francis Drake Channel with the breeze on your face and the islands rolling by.
We saw in the new year anchored off Jost Van Dyke—after a barefoot stroll and a drink or two ashore, of course. But it was the return to the boat, the gentle clinking of glasses under the stars, and the quiet laughter in the cockpit that really made it special. There was no countdown, no booming music—just the sound of the water, good company, and a boat that’s seen her fair share of ocean miles.
Blue Magic is more than just a charter yacht—she’s an experience in herself. Designed by Sparkman & Stephens, built in Finland by Nautor’s Swan, and maintained with care, she carries a timeless sense of quality and calm. The last of her kind, and still as seaworthy and graceful as ever.
It wasn’t just about where we went—it was about how it felt. Being part of the crew, not just a passenger. Slowing down and soaking up the moments that you carry home with you long after the tan fades.
Here’s to more magic moments in 2025.
