British-Built Offshore IRC Specialist
ANDRASTA is a custom-built Iceni 39, designed and constructed in East Anglia as a pure offshore racing yacht optimised around the IRC rule. Launched in 2013, she immediately undertook extensive sea trials from Biscay to the Bay of Lions before establishing herself on both the UK and Mediterranean offshore circuits.
Her race record includes competition in the Rolex Fastnet Race, the Giraglia Rolex Cup, the Cowes–Dinard–St Malo Race, and line honours in class at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. Notably, she finished as the third sub-40ft monohull in the 2015 Fastnet despite a crew that had never previously sailed together — a testament to the platform’s balance, structural integrity and offshore capability
Built for Offshore Competition
Constructed to ISO 12215 Category A standards (ISAF Cat 0 equivalent) with structural approval by DNV GL, Andrasta was engineered from the outset as a serious offshore racer. Vacuum-consolidated sandwich construction, developed using CAD/CAM processes and validated through FEA and CFD analysis, delivers an efficient and highly optimised structure.
With a lightship displacement of 5,763 kg and a STIX of 47, she is MCA Cat 2 coded and structurally prepared for demanding offshore programmes. The stripped, weight-conscious interior reflects her intent — this is a purpose-driven race boat, not a cruiser-racer compromise.
Optimised Under IRC
At 11.98m LOA with a 4.00m beam and 2.95m draft, Andrasta combines power with control. Continuous development — including keel refinement, centre of gravity optimisation and sail plan evolution — has resulted in a current IRC rating of 1.176 (2023), achieved through measured performance gains rather than rating compromise.
Configured as a fractional Bermuda sloop and optimised for a 10-crew offshore campaign, she is powered by a Yanmar 30hp engine and carries practical fuel and water capacity sufficient for offshore racing without unnecessary excess weight.
Carbon Rig & Contemporary Sail Plan
Her rig package is centred around a Hall Spars two-spreader high-modulus carbon mast and carbon boom, supported by a permanent carbon bowsprit. Navtec Nitronic 50 rod standing rigging, renewed in 2019 and NDT inspected in 2023, ensures structural confidence under sustained offshore loads.
The sail inventory reflects an actively optimised programme, built around a North 3Di square-top mainsail and supported by competitive headsails and asymmetric options updated through 2023. A full offshore safety sail inventory, including trysail and storm jib, ensures compliance for Category 1 racing.
Engineered for Data-Driven Performance
Below the waterline, a carbon rudder running on JP3 self-aligning bearings pairs with a high-performance lead/antimony bulb on a low-drag iron fin keel, delivering both upwind efficiency and downwind stability.
On deck, a B&G H5000 performance suite with mast displays and forestay load cell integrates with a Zeus plotter and laptop connectivity, providing accurate, real-time performance data. The result is a race-ready offshore platform built not only for speed, but for consistent, repeatable competitive results.
ANDRASTA represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully developed British offshore IRC specialist — structurally engineered, continuously refined, and proven in some of the most demanding races on the calendar.
