What's included

The price includes professional crew, all boat and race costs, meals and drinks when racing and team t-shirt.
Full safety gear, including Spinlock AIS-equipped lifejackets is provided and wet weather kit can be rented at any additional cost, please enquire when booking.
Additional costs include flights, transfers, accommodation and meals ashore and personal insurance.

What to expect

You’ll be accompanied by a 4-person professional offshore crew, led by Skipper Jelmer van Beek. During this 2,700 NM trans-Atlantic race a rotating 4-hour watch system is in place: four hours on, four hours off. Every crew member plays an active role — trimming, navigating, cooking, and of course driving.

Food onboard is a combination of the freeze-dried meals used during The Ocean Race, plus fresh fruit (the first days), snacks, energy bars, chocolate, sweets, dried meats, and a few surprises.

Please note that after a short stop-over in St. Lucia the yacht, which cannot be moored in St Lucia, will sail on to St. Maarten. As an ARC crew member you can join this passage free of charge and disembark in St. Maarten for your onward travel.

Itinerary

18th November: Crew Arrive in Las Palmas. Welcome Briefing.
19th November: Training Day 1 – Team building, safety drills, boat familiarization, sailing practice.
20th November: Training Day 2 – Sail handling, race tactics, final coordination.
21st November: Lay Day & Final Boat Checks.
22nd November: ARC Race Start @ 12:45
Race Finish: ETA 2nd-4th-December – Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.

Please note that after a short stop-over in St. Lucia the yacht, which cannot be moored in St Lucia, will sail on to St. Maarten. As an ARC crew member you can join this passage free of charge and disembark in St. Maarten for your onward travel.

Crew information

You’ll be accompanied by a 4-person professional offshore crew, led by Skipper Jelmer van Beek who has already completed eight Atlantic crossings — all aboard this VO65.

Prerequisite experience

Some previous experience of offshore sailing is required including night sailing. You should also be in good physical and mental health.

Gran Canaria, across the Atlantic finishing in St Lucia.

Accommodation

Crew will need accommodation ashore in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria in the days ahead of the race.
