Cowes
Cowes Yacht Haven: A must-visit for any sailor, this lively marina is at the heart of UK yacht racing and home to world-famous events like Cowes Week. Enjoy the town’s excellent restaurants, bars, and nautical charm.
Osborne Bay: Just east of Cowes, this sheltered anchorage offers a peaceful escape with views of Osborne House, once the seaside retreat of Queen Victoria.
Hamble
Hamble River: A bustling sailing hub with several marinas, charming waterside pubs, and a rich maritime history. A great base for exploring The Solent.
Warsash: A quieter alternative to Hamble, ideal for mooring up and enjoying scenic river views before heading out into open water.
Yarmouth & The iconic Needles
Yarmouth Harbour: One of the most picturesque harbours on the Isle of Wight, offering excellent facilities, historic charm, and easy access to stunning coastal walks.
The Needles: One of the most famous landmarks in British sailing, these dramatic chalk stacks rise from the sea at the western tip of the Isle of Wight. With strong tides and challenging waters, navigating around The Needles is an exhilarating experience for any sailor. Nearby Alum Bay offers stunning multi-coloured cliffs and a great spot for sightseeing.
Totland Bay: A tranquil anchorage with clear waters and a sandy beach, perfect for a relaxing afternoon or a swim.
Lymington
Lymington Marina: A gateway to The Solent with two excellent marinas, cobbled streets, and a traditional English market town atmosphere.
Hurst Castle: Just a short sail away, this historic fort offers incredible views over The Needles and is a fascinating place to explore.
Beaulieu River
Buckler’s Hard: A peaceful and historic location where Nelson’s fleet was once built. Sail up the Beaulieu River and moor at this beautiful woodland setting.
Beaulieu Village: A charming spot to explore, home to the famous Beaulieu Motor Museum and the stunning grounds of Beaulieu Abbey.
Portsmouth & the Eastern Solent
Gunwharf Quays Marina: A modern marina in the heart of Portsmouth, surrounded by excellent restaurants, bars, and shops. Don’t miss a visit to the historic HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum.
Bembridge Harbour: On the eastern side of the Isle of Wight, this tranquil spot is perfect for an overnight stay, with access to sandy beaches and a welcoming village.
