What to expect

Clients are fully involved crew members in all aspects of sailing both above and below decks during this race and return passage. A great opportunity to develop your navigational, helming and sail management skills under the guidance of an RYA instructor. Possible Qualifying Passage back to Cowes for any RYA YM student.

Itinerary

2nd May – Training Day & JOG Race Start
Please note that Emily of Cowes will remain in St Vaast for at least 24 hours following the race before making the return passage. All crew members will have a berth onboard whilst in harbour.
4th May – Return to Cowes expected by early evening.

Crew information

Richard is one of the most experienced charter captains you’ll have the pleasure of meeting, having sailed throughout his life around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Richard, who has crossed the Atlantic 20 times, owned several yachts before Emily of Cowes including the beautiful schooner, Coral of Cowes and the legendary ketch Emily Morgan.

Prerequisite experience

No previous race experience is required. Some previous sailing experience is preferred but not essential – everyone has got to start somewhere!

Accommodation

There is a berth on board for every crew member; including whilst in port.

Elan 450, Emily of Cowes is a 45 foot Rob Humphreys design, launched in 2008. With a semi chined hull she looks like a 45ft ocean racer but with a comfortable interior.
