Palma Vela

Originally created as a regatta for Maxis, and formerly known as the Maxi Race Week, today PalmaVela is a key sailing event, not only in Spain, but also throughout the Mediterranean. The event is of great interest to the different monotype fleets, and quite possibly the most eagerly anticipated regatta for many ORC certified boat owners, not to mention the big boat fleets. This is a great opportunity to enjoy sailing in the idyllic Balearic Islands and we have a number of racing charter options available!

RORC Myth of Malham

While still one of the longer ones in the domestic season, the race takes on new meaning during a Rolex Fastnet Race year when it mirrors the initial phase of the longer course. This makes for a handy ‘rehearsal’ and ensures a large turn-out. Depending upon the conditions, the challenge lies ultimately in the complex tidal gates along the south coast’s notorious headlands.

Eastbound TransAt

Starting in Antigua at the beginning of May this TransAtlantic passage will cross to the UK via the Azores. Sailing eastbound across the Atlantic is known to be more of a challenge than sailing to the Caribbean, so this is a real adventure with the possibility of a whole mix of weather conditions and a real bucket list item for the more adventurous sailor. This TransAtlantic is a good opportunity to gain experience, learn about ocean passages, accumulate miles and see wildlife. Leg 1 Antigua to the Azores: 2600nm / 12 - 14 days at sea Each year the weather is different, but typically the first leg is dominated by the Azores high pressure system. The routing typically takes you north along the west side of the Azores high pressure and keeps south of any low pressure systems to the north. Azores Stopover - 3 days There will be a stopover in the Azores to restock on fresh food and visit the island. This stopover is very enjoyable, the marina is great and the island is unspoilt by mass tourism, with the possibility of going whale watching or visiting the volcanoes. Leg 2 Azores to the UK: 1250nm / 6 - 9 days at sea After the stopover in the Azores, you will head north-east and the conditions can become variable and the nights can get chilly. In June you could experience anything from a gale from the west to north easterly headwinds if the Azores High moves north.

Tre Golfi Sailing Week

Based in the Mediterranean the Tre Golfi (previously Rolex Capri) Sailing Week will see Sorrento and its stunning coastline host the traditional regattas of international sailing to the Gulf of Naples. The Regata dei Tre Golfi will set off on its classic route, leaving the islands of Procida, Ventotene and Ponza to port before returning to round the Li Galli rocks off Positano, and cross the finish line off Capri. The course covers around 150 miles in the three gulfs of Naples, Gaeta and Salerno. This will be followed by four intense days of coastal and windward-leeward racing on the same regatta course used in previous years, stretching between Punta della Campanella, the Faraglioni of Capri and Procida, the island nominated Italian capital of culture for 2022. With unmissable racing and social events, organised by four of the most important Italian sailing clubs, our whole boat charter options offer the opportunity to compete in a truly international regatta in a venue of extraordinary beauty.
