What's included

The price includes a berth onboard and all boat costs. Food costs are in addition and shared amongst all on board. Additional costs include flights, transfers, food and accommodation ashore and personal insurance.

What to expect

A round-the-world adventure taking place over 15 months and covering 26,000 NM. Following the classic trade winds route, the rally avoids regions of political instability, piracy and storm seasons. World ARC is a mix of cruising in company and free time to explore. The pace of the rally allows the fleet to stay together, and to enjoy shore-side activities as a group.

Join Celeste of Solent for one or several legs of this adventure! As a crew member you become part of the team and are involved in everything from navigating to cooking. During offshore passages watch shifts will be in place. This means crew are on watch for three hours and off watch for six hours. The responsible ‘on-watch’ team handles steering, trimming, and navigation while off-watch you get a chance to rest, sleep and also prepare meals and help out with other duties around the boat. As a crew member on board Celeste of Solent, you become part of the team and are involved in everything from steering and navigating to cooking and taking care of the boat.

Crew information

S/Y Celeste of Solent is always manned by a crew that hold Master of Yacht certification and has a number of skippers available. The crew rotate and for each Leg of the World ARC the skipper has been nominated so you can be confident of whom you will be sailing with. All skippers have many years of experience sailing on board Celeste and other yachts and some are also instructors for Master of Yacht.

Bengt he has sailed on Celeste since 2005 in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, the Barents Sea and has also crossed the Atlantic several times.

Svante has sailed all his life and in recent years has been more adventure sailing in Europe, on the North Sea, across the Atlantic and in the Azores. He has sailed on Celeste for the last 4 years, logging over 25,000 nm onboard including 3 Atlantic crossings, incl ARC 2023 (placing 2nd in large cruising division) and two West to East crossings as First Mate. He has also skippered cruising tours of the Caribbean, the Azores and the North Sea.

Johan B has been part of the crew on Celeste of Solent since 2017 when he participated in the ARC and were Winners with Celeste. Johan has crossed the Atlantic three times and the Baltic Sea, as either Skipper or First Mate. Johan has accumulated invaluable experience in both inshore and offshore sailing, with approximately 20,000 nautical miles logged. With a wealth of experience, from competitive racing to long-haul deliveries and blue water cruising,

Mats has sailed all his life with more than 60,000 nautical miles including multiple crossings of the Atlantic.

Thomas has sailed around Shetland, Orkney and Scotland as well as to Svalbard, around the Azores and across the Atlantic.

Sonja has sailed to Svalbard, crossed the Atlantic twice and sailed in the Atlantic archipelagos of Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands. She has also sailed across the Pacific – from the Galapagos to Polynesia.

Johan “JAX” sailing adventures include numerous offshore races and has served as First Mate aboard Celeste of Solent. Additionally, Johan has undertaken several transatlantic crossings, both westbound and eastbound.

Jens has with Celeste as skipper and first mate since 2010. He has sailed to Iceland, Svalbard, St Petersburg, in the Mediterranean and the West Indies, across the North Sea, rounded Rockall and in Thailand, among others. Over the years, he has accrued around 100,000 nautical miles. 

Prerequisite experience

The crew of Celeste are very happy to sail with clients who have limited offshore sailing experience. However, we would suggest that at the very least you have experience of an over-night passage on a sailing yacht prior to joining a World ARC leg.

Accommodation

Shared cabins – on shorter routes you will have your own berth. On longer passages, with night sailing, crew alternate between berths in the aft, for more comfort when underway.
