The Northwest Passage represents one of the last great earthly adventures. Located in the north of Canada, this passage, long impassable, gradually becomes accessible during the summer, between the end of July and mid-September. However, this expedition remains a real challenge: the weather conditions are unpredictable, making it impossible to guarantee free passage.
After a few days acclimating to the stunning landscapes of Disko Bay, renowned for its majestic icebergs and playful humpback whales, you’ll cross Baffin Bay to reach Pond Inlet, your first stop in the heart of Inuit territory.
From there, you’ll embark on a thrilling adventure through the legendary Northwest Passage. Depending on ice conditions, your route may take you through the dramatic Bellot Strait or along the scenic coasts of Prince of Wales and Somerset Islands. En route, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the historical remnants of 19th-century British expeditions, including the recently discovered wrecks of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition.
As you journey west, passing the southern tip of Victoria Island towards Amundsen Gulf, you’ll be immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the Arctic. Keep your eyes peeled for iconic polar bears and other fascinating wildlife as you navigate this iconic waterway.
