What to expect

Set sail on an exhilarating 10-day offshore voyage from Gosport to Portrush, a true adventure designed for experienced sailors and those looking to expand their passage planning, navigation, and offshore sailing skills. Covering over 500 nautical miles, this journey will take you through some of the UK and Ireland’s most dynamic waters, with exciting stopovers offering respite, resupply, and local exploration.

The trip will include:
• Serious Offshore Sailing – A true test of endurance, teamwork, and seamanship.
• Passage Planning & Strategy – Work with the crew to plan each leg, including tides, weather, and routing decisions.
• Night Sailing & Watch Keeping – Gain experience in overnight passages, sail trim for changing conditions, and fatigue management.
• Navigation & Pilotage – Enhance your skills using charts, tidal atlases, and electronic navigation systems.
• Weather Routing – Learn how to interpret forecasts, plan routes accordingly, and adapt to changing offshore conditions.

Itinerary

Wednesday 5th June, 9am – Crew join Resolute in Gosport, for a safety briefing and passage planning session before departure
Friday 4th July – Arrive in Portrush Harbour

Key Stops & Possible Anchorages:
Day 1-2: Gosport to Dartmouth (Approx. 90 NM)
• Shake down sail along the English Channel, working through tides and weather planning. • Explore the historic maritime town of Dartmouth, with excellent local food and sheltered anchorage options.
Day 3-4: Dartmouth to the Isles of Scilly (Approx. 100 NM)
• A longer offshore leg, including night sailing and tidal gate strategies around Land’s End.
• Anchor in St. Mary’s or Tresco – white sandy beaches and stunning scenery for a brief respite before the next leg.
Day 5-6: Isles of Scilly to Dunmore East, Ireland (Approx. 120 NM)
• Open water passage across the Celtic Sea, focusing on watch systems, navigation, and offshore weather tactics.
• Landfall in Dunmore East, a beautiful fishing village with a warm Irish welcome.
Day 7-8: Dunmore East to Bangor, Northern Ireland (Approx. 140 NM)
• Navigate the challenging tides of the Irish Sea, using waypoints and pilotage for a rewarding arrival.
• Bangor offers excellent marina facilities, a great opportunity to refresh and take stock before the final leg.
Day 9-10: Bangor to Portrush (Approx. 80 NM)
• A final push north, rounding the dramatic Antrim Coast.
• Arrive in Portrush, a vibrant coastal town with access to the stunning Giant’s Causeway and welcoming Irish hospitality.

1) Double cabin – book a whole double cabin which you can either have to yourself or bring a friend, the price is the same
