What to expect

Starting from Nuku-Hiva in the Marquesas Archipelago this 850nm leg will explore paradise islands and atolls in this route from the Marquesas Islands to Tahiti. This sailing takes you through French Polynesia – considered by many to be paradise on Earth.

Sailing from the Marquesas Islands to Tahiti this leg will sail via the atolls of Illes Palliser. These atolls form part of the Tuamotu archipelago, the largest chain of coral atolls in the world, and are one of the highlights of South Pacific cruising. Each atoll is a ring of coral, topped with sandy islets surrounding a lagoon. The clear waters are abundant with reef fish and large pelagic fish are often spotted in the passes.

Taking part in a World ARC leg is both a challenging and rewarding experience. This is the perfect adventure if you like to be at sea and at the same time make unforgettable stops in fantastic places. As a crew member on board Celeste of Solent, you will become part of the team and involved in everything from steering and navigating to cooking and taking care of the boat. On the longer passages, sailing is undertaken in watch teams where you are on watch for three hours and off watch for six hours. The responsible ‘on-watch’ team handles steering, trimming, and navigation while off-watch you get a chance to rest, sleep and also prepare meals and help out with other duties around the boat. You will experience the local culture of French Polynesia. Fantastic islands and atolls rich in beautiful coral reefs, abundant marine life and pristine seas.
